Researchers have found that a diet high in saturated fat is a prime suspect in the onset of osteoarthritis after finding that it changes the composition of cartilage, especially in the weight-bearing joints of the hip and knee. Our findings suggest that it’s not wear and tear but diet that has a lot to do…
Eben Britton is a man who understands pain. Within his six-year NFL playing career as an offensive lineman for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears, he experienced major and minor injuries alike, including a torn labrum, a hamstring injury, a herniated disc resulting in sciatica that still ails him to this day. “I can’t feel…
Exercise is crucial if you have arthritis. But knowing just how much activity to do when you’re hurting can be tricky. After all, research has shown that moderate activity can help prevent the progression of arthritis and improve overall function.
But while mild muscle soreness after a workout is normal, sharp pain during or immediately after can signal injury. And sometimes simply the fear of pain can keep you from wanting to do any kind of exercise at all.According to a new study, however, just a little physical activity seems to go a long way toward helping older adults with arthritis remain able to do daily tasks.
Arthritis Symptom Relief with Exercise
Scientific studies have shown that participation in moderate-intensity, low-impact physical activity improves pain, function, mood, and quality of life without worsening symptoms or disease severity. Being physically active can also delay the onset of disability if you have arthritis. But people
Whiplash-associated injuries can occur in a variety of settings where any form of accelerated motion may cause the head and neck to jerk back-and-forth with tremendous force against the entire body. Trauma from a slip and fall or an accident from sports or physical activities have been demonstrated to result in neck injuries such as whiplash, however, automobile accident injuries are the most prevalent cause of whiplash-associated injuries.
The sudden thrust of the head can damage or injure the complex structures which surround the cervical spine, often leading to the severe irritation and inflammation of the tendons and ligaments in the neck. In addition, other tissues as well as the tendons and ligaments of the cervical spine may become overly stretched and torn.
A neck injury can be identified if the victim involved in an automobile accident experiences symptoms such as: neck pain and stiffness; worsening pain with movement; loss of range of motion in the neck; headaches, most generally originating at the base of the skull; tenderness or pain in the shoulder, upper back and/or arms; tingling or numbness in the upper extremities, fatigue and dizziness. Other symptoms include: blurred vision; ringing in the ears; sleep disturbances; irritability; difficulty concentrating; memory problems; and even anxiety and depression. While these are some of the most frequently reported symptoms associated with a whiplash injury, these symptoms may also suggest the presence of another type of injury or condition.
Therefore, it’s fundamental to seek immediate medical attention from a qualified auto accident injury specialist who can properly identify a whiplash or neck injury and follow with the recommended treatment to eliminate the painful symptoms and restore the individual’s overall health and wellness.
The Validity of the Chiropractic Adjustment

Chiropractic adjustment has various applications. From the treatment of chronic pain and pre-existing conditions to early or sudden onset pain. Perhaps most frequently cited, sufferers of back and neck pain, sciatica, migraines and more have found relief from chiropractic medicine.
In fact, many medical doctors recommend that their patients seek chiropractic care for a variety of conditions before seeking more invasive measures such as surgery. This sentiment was (echoed by the American Medical Association) as recently as 2013.
Relieving Back and Neck Pain
Roughly 80% of adults have experienced back pain at some point. (In a study by Consumer Reports), 14,000 sufferers were surveyed. None of these individuals had undergone back surgery of any type. By the end of the study, Chiropractic adjustment was rated as the #1 treatment option.
In a similar (study conducted by the Annals of Internal Medicine), 272 patients experiencing recent onset neck pain were treated using three different methods:
Regular Chiropractic Adjustments
At the conclusion of the twelve-week study, patients who underwent regular chiropractic adjustments were twice as likely to be pain free as those who were treated with medication. (Further research demonstrates) the validity of chiropractic adjustments as easily seen via magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Patients with lower back pain often experience limited mobility in the lumbar spine region that produces degeneration as well as adhesions within the joints of the vertebrae. When patients received an MRI scan following a chiropractic adjustment, the imaging showed an increase in spinal gapping. This breaks up the adhesions, allows the joints to move freely, and lead to a reduction in pain.
Headaches and Migraines
Chronic head pain, including migraines is another common condition that chiropractic adjustment can provide relief for. Through manipulation, chiropractic medicine is able to relieve pressure off of the nerves and provide relief. Headache and migraine sufferers may find long-term relief with continued adjustments, resulting in lessening the severity of symptoms or the frequency of onset.
There is also published research showing the validity of these treatment options. In an (Australian study that tracked 127 migraine sufferers), those who received regular chiropractic adjustments reported a decrease in migraine attacks as well as the need to take less medication.
Considering the rising costs of healthcare, specifically prescription medication, mitigating pharmaceutical costs can provide extra benefits.
In Support of Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care is becoming increasingly more widespread. Support from medical research and organizations such as The American Medical Association, as well as high profile supporters such as Tiger Woods, Jerry Rice, Aaron Rodgers have helped bring the treatments into the mainstream.
Today, Chiropractic medicine is practiced all over the world, and is an increasingly popular as well as effective form of treatment for a variety of conditions, including but not limited to the ones mentioned above.
(Some more statistics)
Utilizing chiropractic adjustments for treatment of back pain may help save Medicare costs by more than $80 million per year.
Back pain sufferers whose first point of treatment included a medical doctor or surgeon, went on to receive surgery 42.7% of the time. For sufferers who sought chiropractic adjustment first, surgery only occurred 1.5% of the time.
Chronic pain sufferers who sought treatment through chiropractic adjustment experienced a 20% reduction in overall care costs.

A broad number of construction or industrial accidents can result in serious and severe personal injuries, sometimes causing worse outcomes, involving wrongful death lawsuits. Because industrialized work settings are associated with the use of heavy equipment and machinery, even the slightest disregard for workplace safety can result in personal injury or harm.
Most industrial accidents can be prevented by performing sound safety practices and methods or by providing and utilizing advanced equipment. Several construction injuries which are caused by heavy equipment or machinery include: fall safety harness protection; scaffolding; exposure to chemicals and hazardous substances; warning lines; electrical high wire or high voltage lines; nail guns; ladders, fork lifts and lifts; cranes backhoes and rollers; hoists and derricks; safety devices; and trench cave-ins. Constructions jobs involving the construction of buildings are the most common setting for industrial personal injuries.
When a construction or industrial accident occurs, an injury or the development of a condition can be debilitating for the worker, impairing their normal capability to work. Missed days at work or simply the painful symptoms caused by the incident can tremendously affect the individual’s lifestyle. Therefore, seeking immediate medical attention following the construction accident is fundamental.
From sprains, strains and fractures, causing temporary disability to spinal cord and brain injuries, the symptoms of damage, injury or an aggravated condition can include: pain and discomfort, irritation, inflammation, swelling and bruising, tingling sensations, numbness, decreased strength, mobility and flexibility, concentration or memory issues and problems sleeping. Individuals who’ve suffered a workplace accident involving heavy equipment and machinery in an industrial setting who are experiencing any of the above symptoms or others should seek help from a healthcare professional as soon as possible.
A lumbar microdiscectomy is a surgery performed to provide decompression for spinal stenosis. When a portion of a lumbar (lower back) disc herniates, the inner material can press on or irritate the spinal cord and associated nerves. This can lead to serious leg and back…
Leaky gut is a condition affecting the lining of the intestines, creating a dysfunctional environment for proper digestion. It is also called “increased intestinal permeability”, because with leaky gut, the intestines lose some of their ability to filter nutrients and other substances. When this happens, particles of incompletely digested foods, bacteria, other waste by-products may leak through the intestines into the bloodstream. It is usually caused by some form of damage to the intestinal lining.
Our intestines are lined with cells, which are sealed together by something called “tight junctions”. In healthy intestines, these junctions work like gatekeepers, which essentially allow or prohibit particles to move through the gut and into the circulatory system.
With leaky gut syndrome, particles can slip through the cells and tight junctions and literally leak into bloodstream or lymphatic system, and move freely throughout the body. When the body recognizes these foreign substances and detects something is wrong, the immune system kicks in, and tries to fight what it perceives to be danger in the intestines. This causes inflammation and inhibits functioning. In this situation, a woman’s ability to digest food and absorb nutrients is decreased, and her immune system can become compromised. Impaired immune functioning here is extremely important, as our guts contain tissue known as gut-associated lymphatic tissue (GALT) which helps protect us from antigens causing food allergies as well as microbes carrying disease.
When the body is continually trying to repair itself from the effects of leaky gut, it can be caught in a never-ending cycle, especially when the source of the problem is not diagnosed. For example, if unrecognized food allergies are creating leaky gut, and the same foods are consumed over and over, a self- perpetuating, inflammatory cycle will be triggered, and the intestinal lining cannot heal.
In most popular conceptions of human physiology, the gut exists primarily as a passive conduit along which food travels and breaks down for digestion and absorption. It’s where bacteria hang out and digestive enzymes go to work. It’s a “place,” an inert tunnel made of flesh and mucus. Lots of things happen there but the…
Leaky gut syndrome is not generally recognized by conventional physicians, but evidence is accumulating that it is a real condition that affects the lining of the intestines. The theory is that leaky gut syndrome (also called increased intestinal permeability), is the result of damage to the intestinal lining, making it less able to protect the…
Because it is something of a mystery disease that can show itself as a bewildering array of other conditions, you could have Leaky Gut Syndrome and not even realize it. The reason is that Leaky Gut Syndrome is one of the many concepts in medicine that cuts across the boundary lines of specific diseases. It…
“Gut health plays a role in RA” sounds like the title of an episode of Dr. Oz. In fact, an episode discussing just that caused an uproar in online communities for people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and its counterpart, juvenile idiopathic arthritis. But strange as it seems, it could be true. Leaky gut syndrome and…

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s own immune system attacks itself. RA is characterized by chronic inflammation that destroys joints, tissues and organs over a period of time. You can beat rheumatoid arthritis by de-inflaming the body through natural lifestyle principles. Auto-immune conditions, like RA, are associated with hyper-responsive immunity….
